Current Activities: Social work teaching, research in health and welfare for ethnic minority groups. I serve currently as the head of the School of Social Work at the University of Haifa’s Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences. Previously, I was the head of the University’s Jewish-Arab Center and mayor of the municipality of Daburiya. I’m a former member of the Council for Higher Education in Israel and former head of its subcommittee for universities and education colleges. Currently I’m member, Planning and Budgeting Committee (Vatat), and the Chair of the Committee for Promoting Accessibility of Higher Education for the Arab Population (The Council for Education, MALAG). My research interests include Jewish-Arab relations in Israel, especially in educational contexts, as well the welfare and health of the Arab population in Israel in terms of social needs, health problems, and service delivery systems.
