IASSW condemns the terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University in North West Pakistan
We Board members of International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack by heavily armed Taliban militants on the students and faculty in the prestigious Bacha Khan University in northwest Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. Media reports show that that 25 people, including a chemistry professor, were killed and around 50 others injured in the terrorist attack on the University this morning. Bacha Khan also known as Abdul Gafar Khan (1890-1988) after whom the University is named was a social reformer and peace-loving man. Symbols of peace are being continuously destroyed by terrorist groups and fear being created in our communities. We stand in solidarity for peace and compassion. We condole all the families who have lost their dear ones whose life was struck down so suddenly when they could have grown to be productive citizens in their country.
