The 2021 edition focuses on\u00a0\u201cInternational cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iassw-aiets.org\/shadow_old\/\">International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW)<\/a>\u00a0had set up the \u201cDisaster Intervention, Climate Change, and Sustainability Committee\u201d in 2010. Its aim was to prepare policies, materials and inputs into the United Nations\u2019 discussions on climate change and other disasters.<\/p>\n<p>Prof.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/lena-dominelli-1b1b8246\/\">Lena Dominelli<\/a>\u00a0Chair, Disaster Intervention, Climate Change and Sustainability Committee represents the voice of IASSW at UNFCCC COP meetings each year, either physically\u00a0or\u00a0virtually.\u00a0Prof. Dominelli says, <em>\u201cClimate change is one of the greatest crises threatening the life of every living person, animal and plant on the earth and the physical fabric of our living planet itself.\u00a0IASSW is working hard in curriculum development and placement opportunities to encourage all social work students to engage in public education and\u00a0action undertaken by statutory bodies and civil society organizations on climate change.\u00a0Social workers and social work organizations across the world are urged to start working together to reduce disaster risk and losses.
