Dr Tan Ngoh Tiong is Professor and former Dean, at the Singapore University of Social Sciences and former Professor at Augsburg College and Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Psychology, and Vice Dean, National University of Singapore.

Dr Tan teaching and research interest is in family social work, models of social work practice and disaster management. He has authored books on Marriage, Family and Parenting, and edited: Alternative Dispute Resolution, Social Work Around the World, Social Care in Asia, Transforming Society, Asian Tsunami and Social Work Practice. His publications include articles on social work, counselling, family therapy, conflict resolution and mediation. He had  served in many editorial boards including: Families in Society, APJSWD, JSWDR, AP Journal of Social Work and Development, China Social Work, etc.

Dr Tan was visiting scholar at Cambridge University, UC-Berkeley and Harvard University. Prof Tan has received a number of awards: Pioneer Social Worker Award, International Consortium for Social Development Asia Pacific Presidential Award, and the Distinguished Leadership Award for Internationals, University of Minnesota.
