IASSW President Prof. Antoinette Lombard at ASASWEI International Conference 2025
Prof. Antoinette Lombard, President of the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), participated in the ASASWEI International Conference, held from 10–12 September 2025 at the University of the Free State | Faculty of Humanities, South Africa.
Prof. Lombard represented IASSW in a plenary session, where she engaged with scholars, educators, and practitioners on the conference theme:
“Advancing Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice, Peacebuilding, and Sustainable Development through Teaching, Research, and Practice.”
Her contribution highlighted that, at this critical moment in history, when global and local challenges are deeply interconnected, she emphasised the need for unity across all levels—local, regional, and global—to work collectively toward justice, peace, and sustainability.
She reaffirmed IASSW’s commitment to advancing social work education globally, strengthening international collaborations, and addressing pressing issues of justice, peace, and sustainability through education, research, and practice.
This engagement further reinforces IASSW’s role in shaping global social work responses to contemporary challenges and in building bridges between regions and communities worldwide.
