Call for Collaborative Research Projects

Two Jointly Funded Research Projects

International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) & European Association of Schools of Social Work (EASSW)

The International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) and the European Association of Schools of Social Work (EASSW) are pleased to announce a Call for Research Proposals for two collaborative, jointly funded research projects for the funding cycle 2025-2026 that advance the field of social work education, practice, and policy.

This initiative aims to foster international collaboration, promote innovative research, and strengthen the global impact of social work scholarship.

Objectives

We invite proposals that align with the shared mission of IASSW and EASSW to:

• Advance social work education and research across diverse cultural and regional contexts
• Promote equity, inclusion, and social justice through academic and practice inquiry
• Address pressing global challenges such as migration, climate change, peacebuilding, social justice, human rights, diversity and inclusivity, sustainability and digital transformation
• Strengthen the evidence base for social work education, policy and practice

Eligibility Criteria

Expressions of interest are welcomed from:

• Academic institutions affiliated with IASSW and/or EASSW
• Collaborative teams involving researchers from at least three different countries
• Projects that demonstrate a clear commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives
• Projects must run for up to 24 months.

Funding & Support

Selected projects will receive joint funding from IASSW (3500$) and EASSW (6000$) . Funding may cover:

• Research-related expenses (e.g., data collection, analysis)
• Dissemination activities (e.g., publications, conferences)
• Collaborative meetings and workshops

Details of funding amounts must be provided upon expression of interest.

Timeline

• Deadline for Proposal Submission: 20 November 2025
• Notification of Shortlisting: 1 December 2025
• Project Start Date: February 2026

Submission Guidelines

Interested applicants should submit a proposal (5 A4 pages) including:

• Project title and summary
• Research objectives and relevance to EASSW/IASSW priorities
• Proposed methodology and expected outcomes
• Composition of the research team and institutional affiliations
• Budget
