Social Work for Resilient Communities May 1–3, 2026 | Chișinău, Republic of Moldova
The International Congress for Community Wellness (ICCW 2026) brings together educators, researchers, practitioners, and students committed to advancing community wellbeing through innovative social work education and practice. The congress will be held from May 1–3, 2026, at the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM) in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova. ICCW 2026 is organized by the National Association of Social Workers in Moldova and the Alliance for Social Work in Post-Soviet Countries, in collaboration with academic and community partners. The congress aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and strengthen international collaboration in addressing complex community wellbeing challenges.
Background ; Over the past fifteen years, educators and practitioners have worked collaboratively to develop and refine an innovative model of social work education and practice in Moldova. Initially grounded in Western social work traditions, this initiative evolved through dialogue, experimentation, and engagement with the social realities of post-Soviet countries. This process resulted in a creative synthesis between Western and Eastern approaches, contributing to new perspectives on human needs, professional practice, and community development. ICCW 2026 provides a platform to share these experiences, encourage critical reflection, and build sustainable international networks for advancing social work practice worldwide.
Congress Focus ;The congress promotes interdisciplinary dialogue across three strategic directions:
Dialectic Social Expertise – positioning social workers as professionals skilled in conflict understanding and resolution through dialectic approaches.
Community Wellness and Holistic Practice – exploring systemic approaches to health and wellbeing beyond exclusively medical frameworks.
Social Entrepreneurship and Community Development – examining sustainable and empowering alternatives to traditional charity-based models.
