Damian Spiteri
Dr Damian Spiteri is a lecturer in social work at the University of Malta where he teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in social work and social care management. Over the past years he has combined teaching, research, and practice-based engagement with NGOs, disability services, and community organisations in Malta and internationally. His academic work focuses on the intersections between governance, power, and everyday life. He has presented his work at international conferences and contributed to publications that promote critical, reflexive approaches to social work education. Alongside his academic roles, he has facilitated supervision and support groups for social workers, managers, and allied professionals, with a focus on burnout, ethical practice, and sustainable careers in social work. He is committed to building bridges between universities, NGOs, and service users, and to mentoring students and early-career practitioners who aspire to integrate theory, practice, and social justice.
