Elections 2026: Candidate Biography Sanjoy Roy

Sanjoy Roy

Prof. Sanjoy Roy, (BSW, LLB, MSW, MPhil, PhD) advocating for ‘Indigenous Social Work in India’, is the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Head, Department of Social Work, and Director, Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL) University of Delhi. He has more than 24 years of working experience in the development sector and in teaching at different universities.

His areas of interests are rural and urban development, social legislation, social justice & human rights, social work practice & critical social work. 

Prof Roy has been invited and visited many countries like London School of Economics, London, Australia, Germany, France, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, South Korea, Doha etc. and presented papers, chairing sessions. 

He has gained numerous administrative experiences. 

He has published more than 90 articles/research papers and 16 books in National and International publication like Sage, Routledge, Rawat etc. 

He is associated internationally with many Professional Bodies/editorial boards and in an International Advisory Board Member of the Encyclopedia of Social Work, NASW. 

He is the chief editor of the Indian Journal of Social Work Education and Practice (IJSWEP). 

He is also esteemed Reviewer of the Oxford University Publication, British Journal of Social Work, Sage publication, International Journal of Social Welfare (IJSW)

Prof Roy received the Excellence Awards for Teachers, University of Delhi, 2023.
