The Commonwealth Organization for Social Work (COSW) will represent social work at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2026), scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda from 1–4 November 2026.
The COSW delegation will advocate for five key priorities: strengthening social protection systems, fostering meaningful partnerships with civil society, recognising young carers, promoting inclusive leadership to combat hate and division, and advancing the rights of Indigenous and First Nations peoples.
Representing Caribbean and wider Commonwealth perspectives, the delegation will also participate in the People’s, Women’s and Youth Forums. These engagements will provide opportunities to bring social work knowledge, professional expertise and community experiences into discussions that shape policies and contribute to a more just, equitable and inclusive future.
The International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) recognises the importance of amplifying social work perspectives in global policy discussions. Social work education, research and practice play a vital role in advancing social justice, human rights, equality and human dignity.
IASSW welcomes initiatives that strengthen the contribution of social work to international dialogue and collective efforts towards inclusive and sustainable societies.
