Interest Areas (social work teaching, research and practice): Interests span across social work education, research, and practice, with a focus on international social work, ethics, and community development. Research explores issues of the professional identity of social work practitioners and students. In practice, engaging in community-based interventions, policy advocacy, and strengthening social work education standards and regional collaborations across the Asia-Pacific.
Current Activities (social work teaching, research, practice, others): Actively involved in teaching courses on social policy, community practice, and human service organizations. Current research examines homelessness in Medan (Indonesia) and Penang (Malaysia), social well-being, social welfare policies, housing, urban marginality, and the professional identity of social work students and practitioners. In practice, he contributes to policy advocacy, community engagement, and initiatives promoting child and family well-being, including his appointment as a Court Advisor for juvenile offenders. Additionally, as President of APASWE, he leads regional collaborations, academic development initiatives, and capacity-building programmes to strengthen social work education across the Asia-Pacific.
