IASSW statement on Natural Disaster and Climate Change

IASSW statement on Natural Disaster and Climate Change

The world is seeing an increasing number of disasters globally – earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, flooding, drought and wildfires.  Each event brings untold misery to human beings, the plants, animals and ecosystems of the territories affected.  IASSW members reach out to those affected – sometimes they too number among the victim-survivors of such calamities, and is willing to support those affected as much as it can within its finite resources.  But it can make its expertise – particularly its skilled researchers and educators, available in some situations.  Anyone who wishes to follow this up should contact Lena Dominelli, Chair of the IASSW Disaster Intervention, Climate Change and Sustainability Committee at Lena.Dominelli@durham.ac.uk
