The Post Graduate Program in Social Work at UFPE has been in existence for 40 years, maintaining, since 1999, in addition to the Master’s and Doctorate courses, both evaluated with the concept 6 by CAPES. Throughout its trajectory, the Program has built an intellectual reference in the Northeast region of Brazil and in Latin America, playing an important role in the research and qualification of teachers, researchers and professionals from higher education institutions, public organizations and with social movements. urban and rural areas.
Through disciplines, research and its intellectual and ethical production, the program dialogues with classic and contemporary themes from the social sciences, without losing sight of the particularities of the “social issue” in Brazil.
Supported by theoretical-methodological and ethical-political references, the Program is a tribute to an academic and intellectual culture of Brazilian Social Work, committed to the transformations of the social reality of the country and the world. The concentration area – Social Work, Social Movements and Social Rights – is referenced by the lines of research in which research projects, theses and dissertations are inscribed:
