SPECIALIZED SESSION ON SHARING EXPERIENCES IN SUPPORTING OUT-OF-SCHOOL CHILDREN TO RETURN TO EDUCATION

IASSW contributed to an international exchange on supporting out-of-school children to return to education, with Executive Officer Ms. Rashmi Pandey sharing India’s experiences and perspectives during the specialized session held on September 6, 2026.

The session, held online via Skyroom from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Tehran Time), brought together social work professionals and experts from Iran, India, Japan, and Nigeria to share experiences, practices, and key lessons from their respective contexts.

Representing the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), Ms. Rashmi Pandey, Executive Officer, IASSW, delivered the experience-sharing presentation from India. Her contribution focused on perspectives and experiences related to supporting out-of-school children and facilitating their return to education.

The programme also featured a presentation on out-of-school children in families headed by women, followed by experience-sharing from Japan and Nigeria. A discussion and exchange of key lessons provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on approaches to addressing barriers to education and strengthening support for children and families.

The session highlighted the importance of international knowledge exchange and collaboration in strengthening social work responses to educational exclusion and promoting children’s access to education.

IASSW was pleased to contribute to this important dialogue and to share India’s experience as part of a broader international exchange on the role of social work in supporting children to return to education.
