The Annual Conference of the China Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) 2025 was held on August 23–24 in Guangzhou, China, with more than 800 experts, scholars, and practitioners from over 230 colleges, universities, and professional organizations participating.
The conference featured a peer review session on “China’s Social Work Education: Local Experiences and International Dialogue,” which presented a summary of the peer review of China’s MSW program conducted by IASSW in collaboration with CASWE. Prof. Fengzhi Ma, President of CASWE, introduced the development of the Chinese MSW program and highlighted the contribution of peer review to its progress. Prof. Annamaria Campanini, former President of IASSW, shared her observations on the MSW program’s development in China as an international expert.
Seven representatives from universities involved in the peer review and six Chinese experts from peer consulting contributed their perspectives on the results of the peer review, international experiences, and opportunities for cross-cultural cooperation. Professor Angelina Yuen-Tsang, former President of IASSW, expressed her appreciation for China’s active role in advancing global social work education and offered her outlook on the future development of social work education in China.
