Cyclone Winston Leaves Tens Of Thousands Homeless In Fiji

The International Association Schools of Social Work (IASSW) has been saddened to learn that the people of Fiji has suffered one of the worst disasters in living memory through Cyclone Winston.  It has caused untold suffering to the citizens of this small island nation, causing so many to lose loved ones, their homes, and livelihoods.  IASSW members stand in solidarity with Fijians, and are keen to support their endeavours in rebuilding their lives.  IASSW recommends that its members offer financial support through the Red Cross which is well-equipped to respond to their needs.

IASSW may also be able to offer other forms of support if social work academics and researchers would like to get it touch with its Disaster Interventions, Climate Change and Solidarity Committee.  This may be done by contacting its Chair, Lena Dominelli at the following email address:  Lena.Dominelli@durham.ac.uk
